Behaviour Support SA

Therapy, Positive Behaviour Support

Behaviour Support SA is a Therapy, Positive Behaviour Support service that aims to improve the quality of life and self-esteem of participants through building the capacity to live an ordinary life.

The service for people with a disability of all ages who are experiencing challenging behaviours.

The service will work closely with parents and carers to develop a positive behaviour support plan that addresses behaviours of concern, and aims to improve quality of life for the person.

The program may assist in:

  • Minimising the impact of challenging behaviour on home, education and sporting environments.
  • Expanding social networks for participants and their carers through sporting links and social media.
  • Empowering families to manage behaviour challenges as they arise.

How does it work?

  • An initial assessment is conducted at the Inclusive Sports SA offices in collaboration with the family to discuss support required and information necessary to implement a plan.
  • Working closely with the family, a positive behaviour support plan, that includes observations and data collections across the participant’s environments, will be developed.
  • A tailored package is created and actioned to support the needs of the participant and their family.
  • Specific skill development services can be offered, including development of communication skills, and creation of personalised documents such as social stories and visual supports. Further assistance with case management and referral options can also be provided.
