Marie Little OAM Athlete Support Program Funding

The Marie Little OAM Athlete Support Program provides financial support for people living with a disability to participate in local, State and National sporting events and activities. Through the fundraising efforts of Inclusive Sport SA, each year, athletes living with a disability and State Sporting Organisations can apply for financial support to assist them with the costs of participation.

Submissions for the current round of funding are due by COB Friday 28th April.

Basketball Development Training

Development Training: Ivor Burge Men & Women (For Athletes with an Intellectual Disability)

This is an open Invitation to athletes who are considering trialing for the Men’s and Women’s State teams to attend the National Ivor Burge Tournament (for athletes with an intellectual disability) in 2017 and want an opportunity to develop their skills between now and the trial date in September/October 2016.

These development sessions will be held on Sunday afternoons at Pasadena from 3.30pm to 5.00pm.

The first session will be on Sunday May 22nd.

Be there to register by 3.15pm.

There is no cost for these sessions.

If you cannot make the first session but you are interested in attending future sessions please register your interest by email to dobrien@basketballsa.com.au

Bring a water bottle and wear normal basketball uniform, ready to train.

Australian Global Games Team Announced

Ausrapid are pleased to announce the athletes that will represent Australia in Athletics, Basketball, Swimming and Tennis at the 4th Global Games in Ecuador in September 2015.

Fifty five athletes with support of 18 staff will contest the Games in Quito, Ecuador – competing in sports of athletics, basketball, swimming and tennis.  Each of these athletes have earned their place on the team as a result of their performances at National championships during 2014-15.

Congratulations to Amy Howard, Bradley Kinross, Wayne Kinross and Harrison Mallard who are the South Australian representatives heading over for the Games to compete in basketball.

2014 Ivor Burge Basketball Championships – SA Men’s and Women’s teams announced

The 2014 Ivor Burge National Championships will be held in Kalamunda, Western Australia from 16-22 February 2014.

The Ivor Burge Championships are the national basketball championships for Players with an Intellectual Disability. The Championships are held annually by Basketball Australia, in a different State each year.

The Championships play an important role in the development of the Australian National Teams: the Boomerangs and Pearls, with the Championships providing a pathway for participants wanting to represent Australia at major international events, such as the Global Games.

Sasrapid wishes great success to the South Australian Men’s and Women’s teams that have been selected to compete at the 2014 Ivor Burge National Championships.

INAS World Basketball Championships in Ankara, Turkey

Action from INAS World BB Champs

The Australian Boomerangs are currently competing in the INAS World Basketball Championships in Ankara, Turkey.

The Boomerangs have finished on top of Pool B with two victories against hosts Turkey, and then Poland, and will now play in the semi-final on Saturday.  They will play the winner of the France Vs Turkey match, to be played 8:30pm tonight CST (Turkey time 1pm).

Congratulations to the team so far, particularly South Australians Brad Kindross and Wayne Kinross, and hopefully the positive results keep going over the weekend’s finals matches!
