Introducing the Inclusive Sport SA Active Inclusion Award

Inclusive Sport SA is pleased to announce a new three-year partnership with Sport SA as naming and presenting partner of the Inclusive Sport SA Active Inclusion Award, a welcome addition to accolades at the South Australian Sport Awards. Presented by Sport SA, The Advertiser and Channel Seven, the new category added to South Australia’s sporting night of nights – will recognise the efforts of an individual; sport or recreation body; or program/event that increases participation opportunities and creates a welcoming environment for people who may be disadvantaged, disengaged or marginalised. Inclusive Sport SA CEO John Cranwell said this was a natural step in the organisations long twenty year journey with the Sport and Recreation sector to now add ‘recognition’ alongside its history of guidance, advocacy, education and the delivery of best practise for facilitating inclusion and diversity in sport. “This is just one of a few strategic initiatives Inclusive Sport SA are rolling out over the next few years to facilitate greater inclusion in the community. This will create sustainable ‘real user’ focused outcomes for the deliverers of sport that are not only inclusive and accessible, but  promote valued roles for people with disability in sport, recreation and leisure activities.” General Manager Sector Engagement Katrina Ranford said, “We are looking forward to receiving nominations for the Inclusive Sport SA Active Inclusion Award and are excited to be a part of the SA Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner”. “Inclusion and diversity brings strength to our communities. It is only fitting that we recognise the outstanding effort of those on the front line, who, through a commitment to offering inclusive opportunities increase active participation to the benefit of individuals, the community and sport in general”. Hosted on November 22 at the Adelaide Oval, the SA Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Dinner is a night where our elite, legends and potential sports stars sit alongside sports administrators, corporate sponsors, dignitaries, government and sports fans to celebrate our captivating love of sport. The Inclusive Sport SA Active Inclusion Award is open to individuals, organisations, groups and programs/events.
