ISSA is excited to announce it is currently seeking applications for new directors on the board.
New directors are expected to be appointed in mid-2021. Further details will be provided to successful candidates.
For almost forty years, Inclusive Sport SA has been a leading sport and recreation industry and participant support body in South Australia.
Our mission is to continue supporting the South Australian community, individuals and families by delivering best practice inclusion and diversity programs and advice to local government, peak body organisations, businesses, local sporting clubs and recreation groups.
Our aim is to create effective engagement opportunities and strategies between organisations, marginalised groups and the community to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
The overarching role of directors is to provide ISSA with sound governance and strategic oversight and direction. The board of directors oversee the strategic direction of ISSA, ensuring that objectives, goals and strategy are successfully carried out.
In addition to these general requirements and duties, each director is expected to bring specific skills, knowledge and expertise to their role and involvement. These skills are referred to as preferred skills, and ISSA requires a broad range of preferred skills at different times.
The ISSA Board meets six times per year (every second month, usually on the last Thursday, starting at 5:30pm) and directors are required to attend meetings. Additionally, each director is expected to sit on at least one committee of the board (i.e. Governance Committee, Audit and Risk Committee).
Directors are engaged on a volunteer basis and are expected to serve for a minimum term of two years. Directors may serve up to six consecutive years (three terms) and may from time to time be called upon to represent ISSA at industry events including functions, conferences and meetings.

Inclusive Sport SA has evolved as a business over the last 40 years and at the heart of that evolution is the belief that the contribution of diverse individuals is valued, respected and encouraged in our community. Our purpose is simple, to “build an inclusive community” which we do through our Active Inclusion, Rapidswim and Behaviour Support SA business units.
One of the strategies identified to facilitate this positive change in the community focuses on having a diverse board. We encourage all people to apply for this opportunity.
