28 Apr Active Inclusion Connections to Community Video Series Launched
Active Inclusion today launched the first of four videos as part of the Connections to Community video series funded under the South Australian Government Statewide Wellbeing Strategy, led by Wellbeing SA.
The video series celebrates the resilience of South Australians during COVID-19, highlighting the innovation, care and dedication of individuals and groups through wellbeing practices that kept people connected in a time where many were at risk of increased isolation and loss of connection to the community.
Through a process of public expressions of interest and existing community networks, the Active Inclusion team selected four stories shared by individuals and organisations that captured the perseverance of the SA community and the creative approaches to connection and sustainability whilst maintaining health and safety guidelines of the time.
A diverse group of stories, the videos showcase the strength of community in our state and tremendous effort across industries, sectors, age and cultural groups to successfully utilise human and technological resources to adapt when facing fast changing, often confusing and unprecedented situations.
An area of great attention and concern during 2020, the first video chronicles the experiences of some of our most senior South Australians at Estia Health, an Aged Care facility located in Hope Valley, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown with facility staff and residents discussing the trials, tribulations and triumphs during the time.
“We are excited to release the first in the Connections to Community video series, which showcases the incredible determination and imagination of South Australians during a time of exceptional challenge and upheaval,” said Active Inclusion General Manager, Katrina Ranford.
“Thank you to all who submitted their stories for consideration, allowing us a sneak peak in to their lives at the time, and to Wellbeing SA for granting us the opportunity to share these four stories with the wider community in SA and across Australia.”
