17 Mar BSSA Welcomes Two New Staff Members to the Team
Inclusive Sport SA is pleased to introduce two new staff members who have joined the Behaviour Support SA (BSSA) team, Nick Dunn and Denise Aistrope.
Nick and Denise join the BSSA department delivering Positive Behaviour Support services alongside practitioners Jessica Howe, Esther Bechara, Tamsin Petzer and Madeleine Martin under the guidance of General Manager – Services, Bianca Dubois.
Nick has Master’s Degrees in Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as in Primary School Teaching having worked with children with disabilities in both school and counselling settings.
Prior to working in the BSSA team Nick was based overseas, spending the past four years working in North America as a counsellor at a summer camp in California.
Nick is passionate about empowering people to achieve their desired goals, using mindfulness and expressive strategies to support individuals and looks forward to using his substantial knowledge of the classroom setting to work with schools and teachers to support the needs of students.
When Nick is not working, he loves listening to music and going to concerts, as well as finding adventurous activities to do around Adelaide.
Denise has a background in psychology and counselling and is currently undertaking her Honours in Psychology at Flinders University.
She specialises in designing, writing and delivering programs for people with autism and is a passionate promoter for living your best life. Her advocacy and active support for self-determination and autonomy is a life-long passion guided by the experiences and lives of her two adult sons who are on the autism spectrum.
Outside of work, Denise is a keen runner and fitness enthusiast who enjoys spending time outdoors.
“Both Nick and Denise bring new perspectives and areas of interest, building on the wealth of knowledge and diversity of professional expertise within the BSSA team and the organisation,” said General Manager of Services, Bianca Dubois.
“I am excited for us to share this depth of experience and knowledge with our participants and their caregivers, increasing our capacity to support South Australians, their families, support networks and local communities.”
