Learn To Swim

What is Learn to Swim?

Rapidswim’s Learn to Swim programs are swimming lessons for people of all ages with an integration difficulty, who require more support than they can obtain from a regular learn to swim program.

Sessions are built around developing water awareness, confidence, safety and basic swimming skills aiming to give participants the skills to transition into community based swimming options. This might be mainstream group lessons or simply being able to safely go to the beach or local pool.

All lessons are tailored to the goals of each participant and delivered by qualified AUSTSWIM Swimming Instructors with patience, passion and a welcoming spirit.

Individually Tailored to Participant Needs

Learn to Swim sessions have a instructor to student ratio of 1:1 with each session focused on the needs of the individual.

This program not only teaches swimming, but also various life skills including communication skills, social skills and water safety and awareness. Instructors utilise best practice techniques in assisting individuals with specialised needs such as the use of visual communication tools and provide support with transition in and out of the pool as required.

Our Instructors work specifically with families to support personal and NDIS goals and complete quarterly reports to outline aims and to record progress.

Learn To Swim & the NDIS

The NDIS will not cover the cost of participating in sport and recreation activities such as swimming lessons.

However if 1:1 support is required to participate in a swimming lesson, the NDIS may cover the additional cost. Please see our dedicated NDIS page for more information on accessing funding for this service HERE.
